The rare first edition of this famous work, which went in 1937 through several editions, is to be distinguished from its followers by several points of reference. For example, Plate 32 shows the Obertruppführer in brown shirt whereas it is a yellow shirt in later editions; Plate 27 depicts the illustrated figures in a complete different pose, also the caption differs; Plates 29a+29b which are so numbered here are not present as such in other editions; Plate 40 depicts different illustrations and poses than those in later editions, and so on.
